Time to Bug Out with the Insects Master Class!
We're please to announce another session of the Insects Master Class! No better time than the summer to explore these curious creatures, both in nature and in beadwork!

The workshop is in video format so you are free to work at your own pace. Videos do not expire. You will receive all eight videos when your kit box arrives and you are welcome to join in on weekly office hours going forward if you have questions or need help with any of the projects.

What's included in the price:
Everything! Eight weeks of video workshops accompanied by detailed, full color, step-by-step instructions bound in a workshop exclusive book and bead kits to make each of the projects featured in the workshop. There will be weekly office hours you are invited to attend and the opportunity to connect with other Master Class students through the Insect Master Class Facebook group.

Your videos will be permanently available in your Projector Stream library (free to sign up for) for personal reference in the future.

Here's the syllabus:

Week 1: Begin Your Journey
Inspiration and Design. Week one will be devoted to sources of inspiration and how one begins to approach the process of design

Week 2: An Ensemble of Insects
Designing with a component-based approach. We will cover three different insect forms and learn how to incorporate these individual components into finished pieces of jewelry and beaded sculpture.

Week 3: Sphinx Moths
Choosing an image or object and developing it into a 3-D beaded form. This week involves building two 3-D moths while working through the trial-and-error process. Consideration will be given to working through design challenges, adaptation of one design to another, and determining how an object will be displayed.

Week 4: Cicada Necklace
Innovative materials sourcing and designs based off the featured element. This week we will discuss designing based on a featured component around which the rest of the design evolves. We will also explore ways to make your work unique by seeking out unusual and innovative materials and components.

Week 5: Luna Moth
An exploration into embroidery. We will learn about combining different embroidery techniques to create a beautiful embroidered piece. This piece can serve as a patch on a purse or piece of clothing or be incorporated into a piece of jewelry such as a brooch or necklace pendant.

Week 6: Scarab Beetle
Taking inspiration from historical imagery. This week we will delve into historical icons of insects and how they can serve as a great source for inspiration. We will discuss how to take an image and develop it into a beaded form.

Week 7: Metamorphosis
Designing with meaning. We will finish off the projects with a look into the more conceptual possibilities with design. We will explore concepts with greater meaning beyond just the visual beauty and learn how to apply them to our own work.

Week 8: Creativity, Ideas and Future Designing
Applying these skills to your own beadwork designs. The final week will be devoted to taking what you have learned technically and applying your own creative vision. I will show you some of my own work and share some ideas on how to take what you've learned and use it to create your own unique beadwork.
